Spouses Club Lewis McChord (SCLM) 2022 Costume Party (CP) - “Cinema through the Decades”


The purpose of this document is to answer possible questions for the Costume Party

 

General Event Information

  • This event is for Military Spouses.

  • No, Non-Members can attend one event per board year. If you wish to attend other SCLM events (and we hope you do!), we invite you to join us!

  • Yes, Spouses can bring their Sponsors.

  • Yes, you can bring a guest; non-members can attend one event per board year.

  • Each ticket includes entry to the event, one drink ticket (up to $6.00 value) for the bar, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and a selection of desserts

  • Drink tickets are good for any libations (up to $6.00 value) at the bar or at the Beer/Wine station.

  • Tables are limited to 8 seats per table. Additional chairs will not be available for tables.

  • Anyone can buy a ticket(s) at any table with open seats.

  • Anyone can buy a ticket(s) at any table with open seats. We suggest the purchase of two or more tables to accommodate seating for all members of your party and an accurate headcount for catering.

  • Once registration closes, the Costume Party Committee will email attendees at each table and provide everyone's contact information to coordinate costumes and table decor.

  • Yes, you can purchase the entire table upfront.

    The person who purchases the table can have their guests pay them back for the ticket cost.

    The person who purchased the table will need to provide the names of the attendees to the CP Committee.

  • Doors open at 7:00 pm

  • 7:00-8:00 pm: Social hour with drinks and hors d’oeuvres

    8:00-9:00 pm: Escape Room Experience

    9:00-9:30 pm: Winners of Best Individual Costume, Best Group Costume, Best Table Décor & Escape Room Experience Completion Time

    9:30-10:00 pm: Socializing & dancing

    10:00-10:30 pm: Groups take down table decorations

  • Roughly 10:30 pm, the event ends at 10:00 pm; table decoration takedown is 10:00 pm to 10:30 pm.

    Remember, traffic pattern changes with the Barnes Gate & Unity Bridge begin on 21 September 2022.

  • There are 4 categories:

    Best Table Décor

    Best Group Costume

    Best Individual Costume

    Best Escape Room Completion Time

    Awards for each category will be presented at 9:00 pm

 

 Tables, Themes & Table Decorating Contest 

  • There are pre-selected movies to provide a variety of films that are set in each corresponding decade. The selected movie will depict the theme for table décor and group costumes.

  • People will have the ability to change the theme for the table with approval from the CP Committee. Changes in movies cannot duplicate table themes.

  • Tables will be judged before the event from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

  • Theme execution, creativity, ability to identify the movie by the décor on the table, independently from group costumes.

  • The only limits are within your budget and comfort level. In other words, the sky is the limit; this is a time to be as extra and over the top as you desire!

    No outside alcohol, even if it is part of your costume or table décor; MWR’s policy states no outside alcohol can be brought into the event. All libations must be purchased from the bar.

  • Yes, there will be very limited opportunities for electricity for an additional fee of $50 for the table

    Availability is strictly on a 1st come, 1st serve basis.

    Those who purchase electricity will be required to secure the entire length of the extension cord to the floor. This is a requirement due to safety and fire codes.

  • The tables are round, 72” in diameter, and 1 black linen tablecloth will be provided

  • The chairs are standard metal with a round back.

  • No, plates, napkins & silverware will be provided by the McChord Club. However, you can include a place setting to emphasize your table decor.

  • On the event day, Groups will be able to decorate their designated tables from 2:00-4:00 pm.

  • If you have never done an Escape Room, this is a perfect way to test the waters!!! As a table, you will be given a scenario and have 20 minutes to “escape” by solving various puzzles with your group.

    If you get stuck trying to solve a puzzle, you can ask for a hint. However, each hint given will result in a time penalty added to your final time.

    The group with the fastest time wins a prize!

 

Opportunity Tickets, Count me in!

  • There will be 3 different Opportunity Drawings

  • Tickets are $2 each, OR 6 tickets for $10

    After registration closes, we will send more information on where you can buy tickets online before the event and at the event as well.
